Jiwoong Hyun
Jiwoong Hyun is a Korean tubist and an active educator in the DFW area. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Tuba performance at the University of North Texas, where he also completed his Master’s degree. He also serves as a Graduate Research Assistant with the UNT Center Brass Quintet. During his time at UNT, he has performed with premier ensembles including the Symphony Orchestra and the Wind Symphony. His primary teachers at UNT include Don Little(Regent Professor of Tuba) and Matt Good(Principal Tuba, Dallas Symphony Orchestra).
As an active musician, his achievements include recognition at the Leonard Falcone International Euphonium & Tuba Festival, where he was awarded a Bronze Medal in 2025. Additionally, he was honored as a Semi-Finalist in the solo artist and Ensemble division for the International Tuba Euphonium Competition(ITEC) in 2023. He has also participated in prestigious brass festivals, including the Pokorny Low Brass Seminar.
Also, He has been selected for the Austin Symphony Orchestra and New World Symphony substitute pool for the 2026-2027 season. Furthermore, he has performed with Dallas Asian Winds.
