We hope that you consider joining us in April as we look forward to putting on a great experience for the DFW percussion community. You'll find information regarding registration, equipment, and judge information on the tabs above. General information is listed below:

Ensembles:
30 minute slot ($300). Second performance slots will be available at a discounted rate ($150), depending on availability.
Ensembles will have a 5 minute period to enter the stage as the previous group departs, and a 5 minute period to leave the stage as the next group enters
Ensembles will receive feedback from a judge on stage with the remaining time in the 30 minute period
Each ensemble must provide 2 sets of original scores
Digital scores or additional copies of originals will require a written letter of permission to copy from the publisher or composer
Ensemble Divisions:
Depending on the entries, ensembles may be broken down into:
Advanced Large Division (8 or more performers)
Advanced Small Division (7 or fewer performers)
Intermediate Large Division (8 or more performers)
Intermediate Small Division (7 or fewer performers)
Middle School Advanced Division
Middle School Intermediate Division
Non-competitive (judge tape/written feedback only)

Judge Comments/Critique
Ensembles will receive judge tapes via Google Drive after their performance
In person feedback will be given with any remaining time in the 30 minute performance window
Performance and Warmup Venues
Ensembles (both high school and middle school) will perform on the FAC Stage
Ensemble warmup will be in the Black Box Theatre
Evening Awards/Concert
Spilled Milk, a percussion collective based in DFW, will provide a clinic and concert throughout the festival.

There will be an awards ceremony after the TCU concert on Saturday with the top-scoring ensemble pieces (in each category) and soloists recognized.
Spectator/Director Wristbands
Spectators are more than welcome to come watch any/all performances!
Spectator wristbands may be purchased at the door for $5 each. These are good for the entire festival
Performers will receive a wristband upon group check-in
Ensembles will receive 2 complimentary wristbands for parent-volunteers
We kindly ask that additional parent-volunteers purchase a spectator wristband
Each ensemble will be provided with director badges
Recordings
Professional audio recordings of each school’s stage performance will be provided by David Burks
Video recordings will be provided shortly after the festival ends
CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY
In the event you have to cancel your registration, please submit a written notification to percussion@timbercreekband.org
Cancellation requests received fifteen days before the festival will receive a full refund. After that date, you will be charged a $50.00 cancellation fee for ensembles and $5.00 for solos. There are no refunds for “no shows.”

Judges
Hector Gil
Hector Gil is the owner of Hector Gil Percussion LLC, and serves as a percussion education consultant, curriculum designer, clinician, adjudicator, and arranger for various programs across the U.S. Most recently, he served as Director of Percussion at Vista Ridge High School and Henry Middle School from 2008 to 2024, where his students achieved numerous national accolades that include being named The TMEA Invited Percussion Ensemble Winner (2023 - Vista Ridge), The TMEA Honor Band Winner (2024, 2018, 2014, 2010 - Henry MS), The Percussive Arts Society International Percussion Ensemble Competition Winner (2018 - Vista Ridge), The Percussive Arts Society International Percussion Ensemble Competition Winner (2014 - Henry MS), The Black Swamp Percussion Ensemble Showcase Winner (2017, 2022, 2024 - Vista Ridge), The Texas 6A UIL State Marching Band Champion (2018 - Vista Ridge), The Midwest International Clinic Performer (2014 - Vista Ridge), The Midwest International Clinic Performer (2022, 2016, 2012, 2010 - Henry MS), The Bands of America Grand National Championship Finalist (2021 - Vista Ridge), numerous finalist performances at UIL State and BOA Championships, and was a “Tournament of Roses” Parade Participant (2023 – Vista Ridge).
Hector attended Texas A&M University – Commerce where he received his Bachelor of Music Education degree in 2001. He marched the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps in 1997 and 1998 as a member of the snareline. He was also a member of the 2000 Percussive Arts Society International Percussion Ensemble Competition winning collegiate ensemble with the Texas A&M University – Commerce Percussion Ensemble. He has been extremely fortunate to study from some incredible teachers that include Carlos Gil, Dr. Brian West, Bobby Francis, Bill Bachman, Dr. James Yakas, and Matt Savage.
Hector began his teaching career as the Director of Percussion at United High School in Laredo, TX (2002-2005), then moved to Fort Worth to be the Drumline Instructor for the Texas Christian University “Horned Frog” Marching Band (2005-2007), then as the Director of Percussion at Vista Ridge High School (2008-2024). In 2022, he served as the Percussion Caption Head for the Bluecoats 50th Anniversary Drum Corps.
In addition to his consulting duties, Hector is an avid percussion arranger and adjudicator for various high schools across the country. Hector’s professional affiliations include The Percussive Arts Society, the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association, and he is a proud artist with Innovative Percussion, Sabian, and Marimba One.
Matt Moore
Matt Moore is a percussion educator, composer, arranger, and adjudicator based in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and is currently an adjunct instructor at East Texas A&M University. He served as Director of Percussion at Lake Highlands High School and V.R. Eaton High School, where he pushed the boundaries of the high school percussion space through innovative use of electronics, studio-quality recordings, and an emphasis on sustainable band/life balance for students and staff alike. Matt’s catalog of over 30 published works through C. Alan Publications, along with numerous custom marching arrangements, has been commissioned, performed, and recorded across the country.
In addition to his music career, Matt works in software development, collaborating with teams to shape products, drive business goals, and bridge the gap between design, engineering, and end users. He holds music degrees from Campbellsville University and Texas Christian University, is an educational artist for Innovative Percussion, and an ASCAP composer. A lifelong tech nerd, Matt solo-developed Frustrating Bird Game for mobile platforms and enjoys retro gaming and home theater gear. He lives with his family in Lewisville, Texas.
Nathan Siegel
Nathan Siegel is a percussionist, composer and educator who resides in the DFW metroplex. He recently just finished his DMA at the University of North Texas. He received his Master’s in percussion performance from the University of Colorado Boulder and his Bachelor’s from Indiana University. He was most recently appointed as an Adjunct Professor of Percussion and Athletic Bands at Tarleton State University.
As an educator, Nathan has spent the last few years as a teaching fellow at UNT, teaching studio lessons, coaching one of the Percussion Ensembles, instructing the Steel Band and leading and facilitating various repair and maintenance projects across the College of Music. He has taught at over 20 public schools across Texas, Indiana, Michigan, Colorado and Ohio. His passion for the marching arts has led him to perform with several high level groups including the Bluecoats and Rhythm X. He has also taught at Legends and Genesis drum and bugle corps, serving as the Front Ensemble caption head and has taught at Vigilantes Indoor Percussion since 2021. Nathan has had the opportunity to present a clinic on Improvisation at the marimba titled “Fun with Improvisin” at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention which has led him to present at several univeristy programs across the country. Nathan also creates online content geared towards percussion and marimba technique across several social media platforms, maintaining an audience of over 10,000 people.
As a performer, Nathan has played in numerous regional orchestras and wind ensembles most recently playing as a soloist with the North Central Texas winds. He has performed twice at the Denton Arts and Jazz festival with the Four ‘o clock lab band, the UNT percussion ensemble and the African Drum and Dance Ensemble. Nathan performed with the UNT percussion ensemble in a tour in Poland in the Fall of 2023.
As a composer, Nathan just finished a set of octave etudes for the intermediate mallet player published by C. Alan Publications. Nathan hopes to write more music for percussion that prioritizes accessibility and specific technical challenges to help students grow. He has also arranged music for front ensembles and high school percussion studios across the DFW metroplex.
Nathan is a member of the Percussive Arts Society, the Texas Music Educators Association and is endorsed by Salyers Percussion as an Educational Artist.
