Julia Funck


Julia Funck is a clarinet performer and educator in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas. She has performed as principal clarinet, E-flat clarinetist, and Bass clarinetist with multiple ensembles including the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra, North Texas Symphony Orchestra, Decatur Municipal Band, Cedar Rapids Municipal Band. Julia has performed in summer festivals including the National Music Festival, Buffet Crampon Summer Clarinet Academy, and the LIFT Clarinet Academy. Julia is currently earning her Masters in Clarinet Performance at the University of North Texas studying with Dr. Phillip O. Paglialonga. At North Texas, she performs in Wind Symphony, NOVA new music ensemble, and the Graduate Clarinet Quartet. Julia received her Bachelors in Clarinet Performance at Millikin University, studying with Dr. David Cook, where she performed in the Symphonic Wind Ensemble; Eidolan Woodwind Quintet; Clarinet Quartet; Millikin Clarinet Choir; and a self-formed Clarinet, Flute, and Piano Trio. In her undergraduate degree, Julia also won the Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra Concerto/Aria Competition in 2021 and 2024. 

Julia currently teaches clarinet lessons at Timber Creek High School in Keller, Texas and the North Texas Virtual Music Lessons program. Julia has previously taught lessons at the Millikin Community Arts Academy, Five Cities Baroque Foundation Youth Academy, and masterclasses for the Millikin University All-State Band/Orchestra Workshop.
