Mary Reyes Sanchez is the resident applied flute instructor for the Timber Creek High School cluster. She earned both a Master of Music degree, with emphasis in conducting and a Bachelor of Music Education degree at New Mexico State University. While at NMSU she was on the faculty as a Graduate Flute Teaching Assistant, Adjunct Instructor for woodwind techniques, and held an assistantship with the Las Cruces Symphony.
In addition to her flute studio, from 2009-2010 she was acting president of the Texas Flute Society and previously held the position of Vice-President. Mrs. Sanchez has served as an adjudicator in Solo and Ensemble Festivals and as a clinician on flute in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. She is currently assistant director of Flute Camp! and has been on the faculty of the renowned Floot Fire camps. Her performing credits include principal flutist with the Gilbert and Sullivan Company of El Paso, the Dona Ana Lyric Opera, and as a member of the Las Cruces Symphony. She has also worked with legendary sound engineer and Grammy Award winner Phil York completing works for composer C. Edward Salter under the Eagle Tiger Record Label.
Mrs. Sanchez has taught privately for over twenty years. Her students have consistently received superior ratings at solo and ensemble festivals, recognition at auditions in the middle/high school and university level. Her students have been selected to the Texas All-State and New Mexico All-State bands. Mrs. Reyes Sanchez maintains an active teaching and performing schedule in the DFW metroplex.
