Emily Houston

Mrs. Houston is a graduate of Timber Creek High School (Class of 2014). While at TCHS, Emily served as a Drum Major and was the school’s first ever Four-Year Texas All-State musician. Mrs. Houston earned a Bachelor’s degree in Horn Performance from Texas Christian University in 2018, where she was also named Musician of the Year in 2018. Mrs. Houston has taught in the DFW metroplex since 2015, working in many KISD schools. In 2019, Mrs. Houston was accepted into the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. In May of 2021, she earned a Master of Music Performance and Literature from Eastman and was also awarded a prestigious Performers Certificate.

When not teaching horn lessons, Mrs. Houston works for Houghton Horns in Keller, Texas. Emily married her high school sweetheart, Rhett (TCHS Drumline Alumni) in 2018. They live in Keller with their dog, Theo. Mrs. Houston plays with many ensembles in the area, including the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. Mrs. Houston has studied with Karen Houghton, Heather Test, W. Peter Kurau, Maura McCune-Corvington, and Jacek Muzyk.
